Not Just a Week
Hey family!
This week was something special. I witnessed a series of potentially life-changing events, and I’m getting the opportunity to work with some really cool people. In short, the success I’ve seen this week has left my head spinning.
But I need you to understand something: this time last year I didn’t even have a stable living situation. I didn’t even know if I was coming back to Duquesne, and I had pretty much lost all hope in pursuing my passion. In a matter of days, I went from walking to work or borrowing my friend’s car to get there- front desk at LA Fitness- to driving my own car to GNC headquarters to meet with the CEO. I know this rapid type of 180 doesn’t even make sense, but here’s why it doesn’t need to:
I have an understanding that life can take all of my experiences, even the hard ones that seem as though they were meant to destroy me, and orchestrate them in such a way that leaves me standing on top of it all. I have an understanding that it doesn’t matter where I come from, where I was this time last year, or where I am right now when I am in relentless pursuit of my dreams. When I am in alignment with who I am and seek what I truly desire, everything in this world works together to help me on my way.
What seems like a week of miracles is simply the result of perseverance and persistent belief. Though the situations in my life started to flip for the better over the course of a few days, the buildup and development leading to these moments have been in the works for years! Both the moments I hated and the moments I loved all played a role somehow in being able to take up space in the rooms I was invited to this week. Things I went through that seemed insignificant at the time, frustrating, or purposeless were proved otherwise.
I’ve found that all that success really requires is an unwavering trust and belief that all things will work together for your benefit, in combination with a work ethic that will position you to be prepared to receive what you desire.
And when you take this approach, the rules and logic, limitations, and restraints don’t apply to your life anymore. Of course, there may be plenty of detours, challenges, and moments of doubt. But trust that all things are and will forever be working behind the scenes to elevate you to new heights.
So, focus your energy on the maintenance of these two convictions:
Unwavering belief in yourself and that life can take any of your experiences to create something beautiful (boldness)
Alignment with what you truly believe (authenticity)
A commitment to these two things allows you to maneuver this life with boldness and authenticity, the very two things that life rewards.
Paulo Coelho says it best in The Alchemist:
“And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
Reflection question: How can you exercise the ultimate trust that things will always work out in your favor, despite unfavorable situations?
