Need a Win?

Hey family!

Has anyone else felt like they’ve been needing a win lately?

Have you ever felt that no matter what you did, things weren’t turning out in your favor? Have you ever felt like everything is a miss?

Throughout my life I’ve dealt with these moments differently. One method, yet most ineffective, is to sit there and feel sorry for myself. It is so incredibly easy and comfortable to sit there feeling sorry for myself, wishing for just one win.

And although this sounds bad, I recognize that this is a gradual process. I believe that we all start out actively striving to reach our goals and get our wins, but that repetitive losses can beat us into submission. We tend to become more and more passive with every defeat.

Before long, we look up and we are letting life happen to us. We await the next defeat in a pathetic attempt to prepare ourselves for it and soften it’s blow.

This is what we tend to do. Why? Because it is much easier to sit down and wish for a win than it is to get up and go get one.

Playing an active role in our own lives and refusing a passive lifestyle is hard. It’s a daily battle. Mix in adversity, and we’re talking about an uphill climb. But it is and will forever be the clear choice in comparison to letting life happen to us.

I’m not saying you won’t face defeat when piloting your own life. You can’t win them all, but you will win some. But the people who don’t play at all, they win none.

Everything about everything is an active process, and nothing about life done right is passive. Go get your win.

Make a conscious decision to go out and play an active role in the victory you desire. We don’t choose outcomes, but we can choose to take our chances and keep playing.

The quote of the week is short, but incredibly powerful:

“The greatest sin is to think of yourself as weak.” -Vivekananda

Reflection question: Have circumstances caused you to submit to a passive approach to your life?
